Keepin Cool at the Gateway Fountain

I always knew that there was an awesome fountain at the Gateway, but it wasn't until this summer that Avy and I realized that this place is (said with a southern accent) "The most Fun"!!

I think that we stayed for 2 hours and even then we wanted to stay longer, but our validation for the underground parking was going to expire, so we had to go.

chilln with my Peeps

You gotta love the Scottish Festival!!
I am so glad that we have some kind of a cool event that we get to look forward to every year.
Avy loves it, and so does Sedona!!
We made Mom and Dad tag along with us this year, good times!

Avy and Sid, camping out while we watched the parade and the bands.
Great tunes, nothin beats the sound of the bagpipes with really loud drums.
Chatting away.
Fishy foo foo.

Check out my mad Moose herding skills

video

Wow, what an exciting day... as Avy and I were out researching the campground that we will be staying at for our family reunion, we came upon these two friendly moose. At first I thought back to all of the things that I have heard about moose with baby's and I pictured something right out of wildest home videos, Charging straight for us, jumping up on our car, whilest avy and I are screaming and backing down the hill as fast as we could go... but no... they kind of acted like sheep, slowly being herded up the hill until finally they found a place to jump up and off of the road to safety. Avy was loving it, not your usual field trip, but hey... we live in the country now, anything can happen!

Why we love midway so much...

video

We have a new friend at our house, Sammy the cow.
I am pretty sure that she will be in next years hamburger
helper, but for now... avy has a calf for a pet.
I think that she is turning into a country girl after all!

Mothers day at the petting zoo

On Saturday, we went to the petting zoo at Thanksgiving point... good times!

Mom and Avy were in love with the baby chickens and the little ducklings, good thing they were in a glass cage, or else, they might have come home with us.
Avy got to go on the pony ride 2 times, she was in heaven!!!
Chris and Sedona, the bopsy twins...
When we got out of the petting zoo, we grabbed a Popsicle to cool off.
What a Great, (and cheap... (SUE!!!)) way to spend a fun day together as a family!!
Note: Check out Sedona, she is soooo close to walking on her own, but for now she just hangs on to things to get around, like... my foot... funny girl!

Look out Sue Baby, I am on a roll!!

I am just soo excited about going to the Dave Ramsey live show in a few weeks, I have his audio book on my phone and I have been listening to it while I drive... I just love it!

I am REALLY trying to be good with my budget and my little envelopes are actually working! Yahoo! I found that one of the biggest problems that I had was that I was looking through mags or reading blogs that talk all about cute new stuff that I thought that I just had to have, but now I just stick to reading a good book to keep my mind off of the stuff that I really don't need and ya know what... I can actually live with out buying helatious amounts of scrapbooking stuff that I may or may not use! Who knew??
Oh yeah, Dave Ramsey and Sue... the Dave Nat-se!
I am sooo stoked, its so wierd how all of the sudden in the last couple of months I have really gotten serious about this money stuff. I think that it has alot to do with wondering where in the world my money was going every month... according to my budget, I should have had enough for all of the essentials and enough to have a little fun too. But I was always having to pay my rent a few days late or running out of grocery money before the month was over. Even as I am writing this, I feel like such a Cliche'... duh, just get a budget, write it down and then keep track of where all of your money is going... easy right, well not really!
The envelopes are the key, and of course I just could not use them until they were cute and oh so functional, so I finally had to get clever and go to Archivers and make this little envelope book... so cute don't you think?
When I get payed or get child support, I divvy it out into the envelopes. My favorite part is physically being able to see the cash and where it is going. That has really stopped me from making alot of stupid purchases too!
I think that it is alot like Dave Ramsey writes in his book... you don't really change until life smacks you around enough for you to finaly see that you NEED to change or keep getting dragged down.
My problem has never really been that I had alot of Credit card debt, but I am so bad at keeping track of money and writing checks and my debit card. There has been alot of "Stupid Tax" spent on ... well, "Stupid" things, such as overdraft fees... SO DUMB!!
NO MORE, I say... NO MORE!! I am not afraid of money anymore, especially my own... its mine, I earned it and for heck sake, I am going to use it!
I feel so empowered, and I just keep telling my self, ... Katy, you are so lucky, you are only 29 and you are finally getting a clue about money. I have even made avy start a little chore chart. She really wants to get a hamster... so we worked out a deal. If she can mark off all of the boxes on her chart by doing chores, flushing the potty, washing her hands and brushing her teeth, then she and I will go and pick out a Hamster that she had to earn for herself!!
Awesome!!!!
Okay, I am done ranting now!!
